Request to Address the Board of Directors

As a resident of the Bremerton School District, you are cordially invited by your School Board
to present comments and questions during the period set aside for public comments.

GUIDELINES:

1. Speakers are requested to use the microphone and podium. Written statements will be received by the
Board in addition to, or in lieu of, oral presentations.

2. Prior to addressing the Board, a speaker should state his/her name, address and organizational
affiliation, if any.

3. Questions and comments should be addressed to the entire Board and not to an individual member, the
Superintendent or other members of the audience. The President of the Board will redirect the
question if appropriate.

4. When a specific topic is under consideration, questions and comments should be confined to the
matter immediately under discussion.

5S. A limit of three minutes will be allotted to each speaker on any given item; a speaker who does not
need a full three minutes may not yield the unused portion to another person.

6. Speakers are requested not to repeat points already made by previous speakers; a statement of support
for previous comments may be appropriate.

7. It is expected that speakers will observe the commonly accepted rules of courtesy, decorum, dignity
and good taste. As outlined in Policy 5161, Civility in the Workplace, uncivil conduct on District
property or at district-sponsored activities is prohibited.
