MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT >» WASA has moved forward with a focused legislative platform to emphasize three specific areas that will provide significant support to ALL 295 school districts. 2025 Legislative Platform -Special Education -Pupil Transportation -Materials, Supplies, and Operating Costs MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT » Why focus on the top three...? 2025 Legislative Platform - Any success for these three issues will positively impact ALL 295 districts and will unify/align WASA members. -— Each issue is a Basic Education program, constitutionally requires funding, clear documentation of not being funded. —- Commitment to ensure each and every student is provided with the opportunity to learn and achieve their educational goals and aspirations. Full funding of the three top issues will release local funding to provide additional supports. MERIDIAN SCHOOL 2025 Legislative Platform » There are some other prominent issues that will also be brought forward, however, these are secondary and will not be the primary focus for WASA. —Update Staff Allocations -Modify Regionalization/Experience Factors —-Reform Levy/Local Effort Assistance -Support Capital Facilities MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT NCTA Open Doors Program Visit >» The Northwest Career & Technical Academy administers the most successful Open Doors program — Provides educational guidance and programming to attain credits and enter pathways to meet graduation requirements for a diploma pathway. — Open Doors programs are not an Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) program, yet they are more flexible in how they are structured to support and re-engage our 16-21 students who are not on track to graduate. MERIDIAN SCHOOL DISTRICT NCTA Open Doors Program Visit -NCTA ts the most effective Open Doors program in the state - of more than 270 programs. -— The program is foundationally built on the interests, aptitudes and opportunities catered to students — with a strong emphasis on removing barriers, building and maintaining positive relationships. -Programming is 2.5 hours per day to complete required credit coursework in a project-based model and 2.5 hours connected to a skills center program.
