Facilities Annual Report to the
Board

7/11/2024


Capital Projects

- MVMS Athletics Complex
- Construction is ongoing
- On Budget
- On Time: Turnover date is mid - August
- Crownhill Elementary
- Replaced 3 failing boilers with 2 high efficient condensing boilers.
- MVMS Carpet Replacement
- Remaining classrooms, office spaces will have carpets replaced this summer. Additional
improvements are being made to prepare for new administration and the opening of
the athletic complex.


Capital Projects

- West Sound Technical Skills Center - Ongoing
- We have provided support with the design of this facility and will continue to provide
support for the design and construction team.
- Replacement of View Ridge and Armin Jahr
- OAC has been selected as the our Owner Representative
- Application to the PRC has been submitted to the state in order to utilize the
efficiencies of the Progress Design Build delivery method.
- Upon approval, the design and construction team will be selected through a thorough
interview/selection process.


Capital Projects

- Bremerton High School HVAC Controls
- HVAC controls were replaced throughout the lower floor of BHS. Obsolete controls

were removed and upgraded to modern controls.
- Bremerton High School Solar
- Installation of 100Kw solar array on the roof of Bremerton High School
- Grant funds from the Washington State Climate Commitment Act will cover the
$495,753 price tag,
- Naval Avenue Security Upgrades
- Replaced 4’ fences with 6’ fences around the playground perimeter.
- Installed buzz in system at the back door allowing students to enter from portables and
the playground while maintaining a secure entrance.


Custodial Updates

- APPA Custodial Standards
- Cleanable Square Footage Study completed in Spring of 2024.
- Cleaning standards are now aligned with industry standards.
- Ongoing evaluation of cleanliness and these standards will continue.

Grounds Projects

- Mountain View Middle School

- Beautification projects are underway to align with the opening of the MVMS

Athletics Complex.
- District - Wide Initiatives

- Prioritization of curbside appeal

- Introducing broadleaf weed control, creates an aesthetic environment that also
improves the efficient use of labor time.

- Study of grounds best practices for turf management is ongoing, looking for
efficiencies to provide improved services.

This provides us with data that can help us better track the condition of our facilities and
where our maintenance team member’s efforts are being utilized.

- Work Order Responses

We now track the amount of time it takes for work orders to be processed, engaged with
requesters and are completed. With the goal of improving customer service.

- Dally Data

Water, electricity and gas usage are being tracked.

This provides us with key indicications of the operation of our facilities. Baselines are
being created now in order to monitor for excessive usage indicating problems and
reduction of use to gauge success of future projects.


Additional Updates & A Look Ahead

We will continue to refine our standards, communication strategy and processes to
ensure building administrators, staff and all other parties are being served by our
department appropriately.

We are also in the process of created district design standards that will benefit the
maintenance efficiency of future construction and functionality of our facilities.
