Regular Board Meeting (Monday, January 10, 2022)

  A. Meeting Opening

  President Mike Garza called the meeting to order.
  2. Welcoming of Guests 7:00 PM
  President Mike Garza welcomed guests to the meeting.
  3. Approval of Agenda 7:00 PM
  Motion to approve agenda, with changing B2 to Annual Reorganization Election and B3 to Board Member Discussion.  
  Motion by President Mike Garza, second by Director Jennifer Stevenson.

3. Board Member Discussion 7:06 PM
  Director Jenn Stevenson gave the Legislative Report.  
The Board of Directors held a discussion regarding the possibility of establishing board member goals.  This will be an agenda item at the next Board Retreat.
Director Jenn Stevenson brought a recommendation to the board about changing which board member they meet with to attend the weekly meetings with the Superintendent.
There was a discussion regarding the process for the Superintendent Mid-Year Evaluation. 
The Board of Directors reviewed the schedule for the upcoming Othello High School site visit.
The joint meeting with Othello City Council has been tentatively rescheduled for January 31, 2022 at 6:00 PM.
The regular and special school board meetings scheduled on February 14, 2022 have been rescheduled for February 15, 2022.

  2. Superintendent Informational Items
Superintendent Pete Perez gave an update to the Board of Directors on the selection process of Valedictorian and Salutatorian at Desert Oasis High School.
Superintendent Pete Perez reported on the enrollment of OHS Music and Arts.
D. Assurance of Organizational Performance

  There was a reading review and discussion of the procedure for DOP 1250P regarding Students of Governing Boards.  
2. High School Grad Requirements DOP 2410 7:30 PM
There was a first reading review and discussion of the DOP 2410 High School Graduation Requirements.

  The Board of Directors discuss the upcoming events.

  The Board of Directors assessed the meeting.
  G. Executive Session

The Board of Directors entered an executive session with a 2-minute recess for 15 minutes to discuss the performance of a public employee and to discuss potential litigation.  No action will be taken following the Executive Session.  The Board of Directors came out of the Executive Session at 7:56 PM.
