[00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.420] (indistinct)
[00:00:02.420 --> 00:00:04.760] (indistinct)
[00:00:05.740 --> 00:00:08.560] - So what this means is that these two schools
[00:00:08.560 --> 00:00:10.960] have at least one group of students
[00:00:10.960 --> 00:00:14.920] among the highest performers on at least 60%
[00:00:14.920 --> 00:00:18.120] of the measures included in the Washington School
[00:00:18.120 --> 00:00:19.360] improvement framework.
[00:00:19.360 --> 00:00:21.080] So we're very proud of them.
[00:00:21.080 --> 00:00:24.240] Our two other schools that we are recognizing tonight
[00:00:24.240 --> 00:00:27.000] are Central Elementary School for Closing Gaps
[00:00:27.000 --> 00:00:29.520] for English, Chinese, Progress
[00:00:29.520 --> 00:00:31.680] and Evergreen Elementary School
[00:00:31.680 --> 00:00:35.540] or also Closing Gaps for English, Chinese, Progress.
[00:00:35.540 --> 00:00:39.440] These two schools made a significant advancements
[00:00:39.440 --> 00:00:43.200] for the students in this group
[00:00:43.200 --> 00:00:47.280] for their English Language Acquisition,
[00:00:47.280 --> 00:00:49.040] also very, very proud.
[00:00:49.040 --> 00:00:52.600] They will receive a banner from OSDI,
[00:00:52.600 --> 00:00:53.600] which is a big deal.
[00:00:53.600 --> 00:00:56.400] They can always display the banners in their buildings,
[00:00:56.400 --> 00:00:59.280] but it really does create persistence teamwork
[00:00:59.280 --> 00:01:02.400] and hard work to get a collective commitment
[00:01:02.400 --> 00:01:05.000] to make these kinds of academic progress
[00:01:05.000 --> 00:01:06.800] and I celebrate these four schools
[00:01:06.800 --> 00:01:09.080] are very proud of us, our recognition.
[00:01:09.080 --> 00:01:11.940] Can I ask our staff members from these four schools
[00:01:11.940 --> 00:01:14.480] to stand if you are here so we can recognize you
[00:01:14.480 --> 00:01:15.440] and thank you.
[00:01:15.440 --> 00:01:20.520] (audience applauding)
[00:01:26.480 --> 00:01:29.760] - Good evening, I would like to open to Mary Purcell
[00:01:29.760 --> 00:01:30.920] as well.
[00:01:30.920 --> 00:01:34.240] Mary Purcell, the very special recognition.
[00:01:34.240 --> 00:01:37.400] (audience applauding)
[00:01:37.400 --> 00:01:43.640] English learners for our program,
[00:01:43.640 --> 00:01:44.520] it's a great job.
[00:01:44.520 --> 00:01:48.280] Okay, so now that I have that correct,
[00:01:48.280 --> 00:01:52.320] can I please have the principal of Big Lake Elementary
[00:01:52.320 --> 00:01:56.440] to stand up and grab the certificate of recognition
[00:01:56.440 --> 00:01:58.160] Matt Moose.
[00:01:58.160 --> 00:02:01.340] (audience applauding)
[00:02:01.340 --> 00:02:09.840] Evergreen Elementary,
[00:02:09.840 --> 00:02:12.660] I grow in English language arts and math.
[00:02:12.660 --> 00:02:15.840] (audience applauding)
[00:02:15.840 --> 00:02:22.540] Central Elementary School for Mrs. Sokol,
[00:02:22.540 --> 00:02:24.520] closing gaps for English learners.
[00:02:24.520 --> 00:02:27.700] (audience applauding)
[00:02:27.700 --> 00:02:34.080] And last but not least, Mary Purcell, my home.
[00:02:34.080 --> 00:02:37.240] (audience applauding)
[00:02:37.240 --> 00:02:45.680] And we have Julie Orfield left at all of the speaker.
[00:02:45.680 --> 00:02:49.840] (audience applauding)
[00:02:49.840 --> 00:02:54.000] Thank you so much and can I please ask,
[00:02:54.000 --> 00:02:56.260] by the end, our four principals to come up here
[00:02:56.260 --> 00:02:57.600] and stand in front of the board
[00:02:57.600 --> 00:03:00.760] to read a regulatory photo with your certificate.
[00:03:00.760 --> 00:03:03.360] - Yes, you can.
[00:03:03.360 --> 00:03:06.520] (audience applauding)
[00:03:06.520 --> 00:03:14.560] - I was like, where are you?
[00:03:14.560 --> 00:03:17.720] (audience applauding)
[00:03:17.720 --> 00:03:22.600] - Yeah, where are you?
[00:03:22.600 --> 00:03:25.680] (audience laughing)
[00:03:25.680 --> 00:03:38.000] (audience applauding)
[00:03:38.000 --> 00:03:43.400] - Thank you all, congratulations.
[00:03:43.400 --> 00:03:46.800] Thank you so much for all your hard work
[00:03:46.800 --> 00:03:49.360] and promoting student performance.
[00:03:49.360 --> 00:03:53.040] We are very, very proud of you for your support.
[00:03:53.040 --> 00:04:01.920] And you are welcome to leave if you do not want to stay.
[00:04:01.920 --> 00:04:05.080] (audience chattering)
[00:04:05.080 --> 00:04:12.200] Congratulations to the four of your,
[00:04:12.200 --> 00:04:14.040] can you speak with us in the future?
[00:04:14.040 --> 00:04:16.680] - Oh, there's something up there, yeah.
[00:04:16.680 --> 00:04:19.840] (audience chattering)
[00:04:19.840 --> 00:04:21.560] - Thank you guys for the information on the flight
[00:04:21.560 --> 00:04:23.840] of the Higa analysis and that is showing
[00:04:23.840 --> 00:04:27.000] the DCPA hours about to come.
[00:04:27.000 --> 00:04:30.280] I'd like to absolutely thank you for being here.
[00:04:30.280 --> 00:04:32.120] I'm Ari Berini, and you can have me,
[00:04:32.120 --> 00:04:34.000] you can do yourself, just for the audience.
[00:04:34.000 --> 00:04:36.880] - So, can you help us in that one?
[00:04:36.880 --> 00:04:40.040] (audience chattering)
[00:04:40.040 --> 00:04:43.200] (audience chattering)
[00:04:43.200 --> 00:04:46.360] (audience chattering)
[00:04:46.360 --> 00:04:53.320] (audience chattering)
[00:04:53.320 --> 00:05:07.720] - Thanks for giving me the opportunity
[00:05:07.720 --> 00:05:10.160] to share a little bit of reflection
[00:05:10.160 --> 00:05:15.160] into the data just to give some context.
[00:05:15.160 --> 00:05:20.240] I am a board certified behavior analyst
[00:05:20.240 --> 00:05:25.240] and what we practice is applied behavior analysis.
[00:05:25.240 --> 00:05:28.560] I have a little umbrella there
[00:05:28.560 --> 00:05:31.360] because we probably allow people
[00:05:31.360 --> 00:05:35.760] probably to turn APA and some of you
[00:05:35.760 --> 00:05:39.720] might have heard it in context of a student
[00:05:39.720 --> 00:05:43.120] with autism spectrum disorder
[00:05:43.120 --> 00:05:45.560] and they're receiving APA services,
[00:05:45.560 --> 00:05:49.880] and so that is just one small part of what APA really is.
[00:05:49.880 --> 00:05:54.880] So it covers a much broader series of topics
[00:05:54.880 --> 00:06:00.000] than just the APA therapy.
[00:06:00.000 --> 00:06:03.520] So the ultimate goal is to establish
[00:06:03.520 --> 00:06:06.320] and enhance socially important behaviors.
[00:06:06.320 --> 00:06:09.440] We wanna increase the things that improve
[00:06:09.440 --> 00:06:13.320] everyone's lives and increase the behaviors
[00:06:13.320 --> 00:06:15.840] that take away from quality of life.
[00:06:15.840 --> 00:06:19.640] So I've included some examples on the bottom
[00:06:19.640 --> 00:06:23.680] because APA is such a broad topic.
[00:06:23.680 --> 00:06:28.760] And so how many of us have seen the commercial
[00:06:28.760 --> 00:06:32.960] for the weight loss program in Moon on TV?
[00:06:32.960 --> 00:06:35.680] Like that's 100% that is APA therapy.
[00:06:36.720 --> 00:06:39.800] So we're talking about things like education,
[00:06:39.800 --> 00:06:44.800] weight loss and more treaty industrial safety,
[00:06:44.800 --> 00:06:47.960] advertising, medical procedures, marketing,
[00:06:47.960 --> 00:06:51.000] auto-heal, it just goes on and on
[00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:54.280] with how much applied behavior analysis
[00:06:54.280 --> 00:06:58.240] can help support positives in our lives.
[00:06:58.240 --> 00:07:02.200] And then of course we've got APA in schools
[00:07:02.200 --> 00:07:07.040] and an example is a functional communication training
[00:07:07.040 --> 00:07:11.400] for a person with autism who may have trouble communicating.
[00:07:11.400 --> 00:07:18.120] So here's just kind of some typical responsibilities.
[00:07:18.120 --> 00:07:23.720] We do observations of individuals and the environment.
[00:07:23.720 --> 00:07:25.920] The environment is the first thing
[00:07:25.920 --> 00:07:27.920] a PCPA has been looked at.
[00:07:27.920 --> 00:07:31.760] We can conduct assessments, interviews,
[00:07:31.760 --> 00:07:34.080] and reviewing records.
[00:07:34.080 --> 00:07:39.080] And then we use data collected by a PCPA or other staff
[00:07:39.080 --> 00:07:44.440] to develop a behavior plan that might encourage a student
[00:07:44.440 --> 00:07:46.760] to increase the behaviors we want to see
[00:07:46.760 --> 00:07:49.760] and decrease the behaviors that do not help us.
[00:07:49.760 --> 00:07:55.560] We can train staff, we can help people prioritize
[00:07:55.560 --> 00:07:57.160] positive behaviors reports.
[00:07:57.160 --> 00:07:59.360] Sometimes that's difficult to prioritize
[00:07:59.360 --> 00:08:01.160] along with all the other things
[00:08:01.160 --> 00:08:04.760] that teachers are expected to prioritize.
[00:08:04.760 --> 00:08:06.000] We can collaborate.
[00:08:06.000 --> 00:08:09.440] There's three different models.
[00:08:09.440 --> 00:08:11.200] Here in Cedarville School District,
[00:08:11.200 --> 00:08:14.040] I'm running basically a consulate model
[00:08:14.040 --> 00:08:17.320] where I'm consulting with people.
[00:08:17.320 --> 00:08:19.440] I'm not doing a lot of direct service.
[00:08:19.440 --> 00:08:25.640] Part of my own ethical guidelines outlined
[00:08:25.640 --> 00:08:30.640] that the ACP, which is our body can control those PCPAs,
[00:08:30.640 --> 00:08:32.960] sorry for all the draconist,
[00:08:32.960 --> 00:08:37.240] is sharing data with people to produce change.
[00:08:37.240 --> 00:08:40.360] And so that's part of my presentation today.
[00:08:40.360 --> 00:08:42.640] And we do have some ethical limitations
[00:08:42.640 --> 00:08:44.160] that we have to be careful about
[00:08:44.160 --> 00:08:48.360] around what services we can provide
[00:08:48.360 --> 00:08:49.960] and what we cannot provide.
[00:08:52.120 --> 00:08:57.120] So do you all have a paper copy of this story?
[00:08:57.120 --> 00:09:00.280] For some reason, I need a little bit
[00:09:00.280 --> 00:09:04.320] of behavioral improvement in class creation
[00:09:04.320 --> 00:09:08.720] because the graph on the screen, it looks okay.
[00:09:08.720 --> 00:09:09.880] There's nothing really wrong with it,
[00:09:09.880 --> 00:09:12.200] but for some reason in my presentation,
[00:09:12.200 --> 00:09:16.240] I couldn't get the words down below
[00:09:16.240 --> 00:09:18.600] to where you could see everything.
[00:09:18.600 --> 00:09:23.020] One of the words looks like staff behavior.
[00:09:23.020 --> 00:09:27.740] And it's actually, it should say
[00:09:27.740 --> 00:09:31.760] staff behavior presentations, right?
[00:09:31.760 --> 00:09:35.740] And so the board has the correct behavior
[00:09:35.740 --> 00:09:38.800] because the words where you can see the whole word
[00:09:38.800 --> 00:09:42.520] and that'll be part of my personal role
[00:09:42.520 --> 00:09:45.120] is to improve mine crafting abilities.
[00:09:45.120 --> 00:09:48.120] They mean we all put an end to that.
[00:09:48.120 --> 00:09:52.280] So the first one, two, three, four, five, six,
[00:09:52.280 --> 00:09:55.200] the first eight have to do
[00:09:55.200 --> 00:09:58.380] with general education services.
[00:09:58.380 --> 00:10:01.520] And then next is special education services.
[00:10:01.520 --> 00:10:05.400] And then I did a final one for like
[00:10:05.400 --> 00:10:09.000] plan writing, creating tools, and planning.
[00:10:09.000 --> 00:10:16.040] So one thing I was really proud of is I did span.
[00:10:16.040 --> 00:10:18.800] So this is total hours in the school year.
[00:10:18.800 --> 00:10:22.940] And then the colors are divided by months.
[00:10:22.940 --> 00:10:30.280] So my time spent in general education was very hot.
[00:10:30.280 --> 00:10:36.000] That's a goal I have for myself at the beginning of this
[00:10:36.000 --> 00:10:38.240] is to make sure I'm spending enough time
[00:10:38.240 --> 00:10:42.120] in general education, helping support teachers
[00:10:42.120 --> 00:10:47.120] with behavioral ideas and behavioral strategies
[00:10:47.120 --> 00:10:51.560] because often they are the ones
[00:10:51.560 --> 00:10:53.520] that most need that kind of support.
[00:10:53.520 --> 00:11:01.360] I did not spend the first bar
[00:11:01.360 --> 00:11:03.960] after the word special education
[00:11:03.960 --> 00:11:06.360] was spending time in programs.
[00:11:06.360 --> 00:11:10.880] And then substantial, but I could have spent more time
[00:11:10.880 --> 00:11:12.640] in there, but last year.
[00:11:12.640 --> 00:11:17.640] So programs refers to a life-skilled program
[00:11:17.640 --> 00:11:21.480] and a UPD program, Stride,
[00:11:21.480 --> 00:11:23.880] which serves students with autism.
[00:11:23.880 --> 00:11:26.760] So those are programs in our district.
[00:11:26.760 --> 00:11:28.160] And they have a lot of thinking,
[00:11:28.160 --> 00:11:31.000] a lot of very highly specialized strategies
[00:11:31.000 --> 00:11:32.640] and plans for their students.
[00:11:32.640 --> 00:11:37.680] And so last year they did have a layer of support
[00:11:37.680 --> 00:11:39.560] through the University of Washington
[00:11:39.560 --> 00:11:42.040] that they do not have this year.
[00:11:42.040 --> 00:11:44.000] So for this upcoming year,
[00:11:44.000 --> 00:11:46.640] I plan to spend more time
[00:11:46.640 --> 00:11:49.640] with some of our special education programs.
[00:11:49.640 --> 00:11:53.800] One thing I've learned through all this
[00:11:53.800 --> 00:11:58.560] is we have a type of meeting called a SST
[00:11:58.560 --> 00:12:02.440] which stands for Student Support Team Meeting.
[00:12:02.440 --> 00:12:04.840] And that is just people meeting.
[00:12:04.840 --> 00:12:09.880] And like a student is struggling with some behaviors
[00:12:09.880 --> 00:12:12.320] and the team comes together, what can we do?
[00:12:12.320 --> 00:12:15.000] What kind of simple strategies can we try
[00:12:15.000 --> 00:12:20.000] to encourage the student to be able to engage more
[00:12:20.000 --> 00:12:24.840] with the learning and less with behaviors?
[00:12:24.840 --> 00:12:29.160] So often a student will have one SST meeting
[00:12:29.160 --> 00:12:32.880] and then the teacher will collect some data,
[00:12:32.880 --> 00:12:34.400] try some new strategies,
[00:12:34.400 --> 00:12:38.360] and then if that doesn't help support the student to change,
[00:12:38.360 --> 00:12:40.040] we come back and get it.
[00:12:40.040 --> 00:12:42.760] And so I found that I am going to go
[00:12:42.760 --> 00:12:46.360] to less student support team meetings
[00:12:46.360 --> 00:12:48.080] that were just the first level.
[00:12:48.080 --> 00:12:50.960] So that's like meeting number one.
[00:12:50.960 --> 00:12:53.160] And then I'm gonna start going to more
[00:12:53.160 --> 00:12:56.160] of the meetings that happened after that.
[00:12:56.160 --> 00:12:58.200] And so with that time,
[00:12:58.200 --> 00:13:02.000] I'm gonna put the SST number one meeting time
[00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:07.000] into programs and into encouraging teachers
[00:13:07.000 --> 00:13:09.520] to make appointment with me
[00:13:09.520 --> 00:13:13.520] for just general observations for some behavioral coaching.
[00:13:13.520 --> 00:13:18.120] Last year, teachers were very, very respectful
[00:13:18.120 --> 00:13:20.880] and we wanted to make sure that there was a process
[00:13:20.880 --> 00:13:23.280] for teachers to get an observation.
[00:13:23.280 --> 00:13:26.560] But I really want to go into more of a coaching mode
[00:13:26.560 --> 00:13:28.120] because if teachers are learning more
[00:13:28.120 --> 00:13:30.360] about how to manage behaviors,
[00:13:30.360 --> 00:13:33.240] then everything improves for students.
[00:13:33.240 --> 00:13:37.240] So by supporting the teachers, I'm supporting the students.
[00:13:37.240 --> 00:13:43.440] And the last thing I'd like to say is just that
[00:13:43.440 --> 00:13:46.920] I appreciate so much this layer of support
[00:13:46.920 --> 00:13:51.160] that we're able to offer our teachers and our students
[00:13:51.160 --> 00:13:53.480] that we've never had before.
[00:13:53.480 --> 00:13:57.520] So it's just my appreciation to the board and to the SST
[00:13:58.920 --> 00:14:03.920] and my question is just one of these hours in time span.
[00:14:03.920 --> 00:14:15.320] So this was primarily focused on our K-6 grades
[00:14:15.320 --> 00:14:18.320] and this, like K-12, what would you say
[00:14:18.320 --> 00:14:20.920] if we were doing it in time at that time span?
[00:14:20.920 --> 00:14:21.840] Good question.
[00:14:21.840 --> 00:14:24.140] It ended up being very K-6.
[00:14:27.200 --> 00:14:30.700] There's just a number of factors that play into that.
[00:14:30.700 --> 00:14:34.800] The impact that kids are going through K-6
[00:14:34.800 --> 00:14:37.240] and what their behaviors is very high right now.
[00:14:37.240 --> 00:14:40.720] The middle school right now is an excellent team.
[00:14:40.720 --> 00:14:44.480] I did some observations and support the middle school
[00:14:44.480 --> 00:14:47.880] that they have a team that works really well.
[00:14:47.880 --> 00:14:48.880] And then the high school,
[00:14:48.880 --> 00:14:52.400] I ended up spending a lot of program time
[00:14:52.400 --> 00:14:54.460] in life skills in particular.
[00:14:55.680 --> 00:14:58.560] But doing observations at the high school level
[00:14:58.560 --> 00:15:03.200] feels much different than at the elementary level.
[00:15:03.200 --> 00:15:06.000] And so it's just such a different animal.
[00:15:06.000 --> 00:15:10.920] It seemed like my time is better spent at K-6,
[00:15:10.920 --> 00:15:13.200] but that is on my schedule.
[00:15:13.200 --> 00:15:15.320] I have time mapped out.
[00:15:15.320 --> 00:15:18.640] It's kind of reserved for secondary.
[00:15:18.640 --> 00:15:22.040] If you have any good questions, I'll thank you.
[00:15:22.040 --> 00:15:22.880] Thank you.
[00:15:22.880 --> 00:15:26.000] I call it, I contact different teachers right here,
[00:15:26.000 --> 00:15:29.120] call it about getting support that you're coaching.
[00:15:29.120 --> 00:15:31.920] And so I'll just thank you all, thank you so much.
[00:15:31.920 --> 00:15:32.920] Awesome, thank you.
[00:15:32.920 --> 00:15:36.760] Okay, so I have a question.
[00:15:36.760 --> 00:15:39.560] I was curious about,
[00:15:39.560 --> 00:15:41.760] I think I know the answer to that one fast,
[00:15:41.760 --> 00:15:43.800] because do you, how much of your time
[00:15:43.800 --> 00:15:46.200] have you spent working directly with students
[00:15:46.200 --> 00:15:49.360] versus with staff and educators?
[00:15:49.360 --> 00:15:50.320] Yeah, good.
[00:15:50.320 --> 00:15:54.460] So I did do a little bit of direct services.
[00:15:54.460 --> 00:16:01.600] So the last comment, where it says student support
[00:16:01.600 --> 00:16:03.680] right before the room's bed.
[00:16:03.680 --> 00:16:07.400] So on your paper, it says one-on-one student support,
[00:16:07.400 --> 00:16:09.640] social, emotional, or construction.
[00:16:09.640 --> 00:16:14.640] So that was with one particular sixth grade student.
[00:16:14.640 --> 00:16:16.880] It's 30 minutes twice a week.
[00:16:16.880 --> 00:16:21.440] And I wanted to experiment and see if my instruction
[00:16:21.440 --> 00:16:23.400] could impact this behavior.
[00:16:23.400 --> 00:16:25.100] And there was a slight impact.
[00:16:25.100 --> 00:16:30.040] So that was kind of interesting.
[00:16:30.040 --> 00:16:35.040] And then, under the SPED category,
[00:16:35.040 --> 00:16:40.040] there's also another column that is one-on-one student support.
[00:16:40.040 --> 00:16:45.960] And on that list, about 30 minutes a week
[00:16:46.240 --> 00:16:48.280] of the entire day.
[00:16:48.280 --> 00:16:51.000] And that was a former IEP student of mine,
[00:16:51.000 --> 00:16:53.640] who I just wanted to continue to support
[00:16:53.640 --> 00:16:56.340] and make sure it was a good progress.
[00:16:56.340 --> 00:16:59.360] And the relationship is as well.
[00:16:59.360 --> 00:17:00.620] It was important.
[00:17:00.620 --> 00:17:07.080] Any other questions?
[00:17:07.080 --> 00:17:11.520] Thank you very much.
[00:17:11.520 --> 00:17:14.680] (audience applauding)
[00:17:14.680 --> 00:17:17.840] (audience applauding)
[00:17:17.840 --> 00:17:35.560] - At this time, I'm going to draw more important board
[00:17:35.560 --> 00:17:37.680] comments than I'd like to keep in mind.
[00:17:37.680 --> 00:17:44.600] - Yes, or more than what I've heard just a few days ago,
[00:17:44.600 --> 00:17:47.480] they talk about our school and community activities.
[00:17:47.480 --> 00:17:49.280] They're sort of like what I wanted to do
[00:17:49.280 --> 00:17:52.000] with the list of some of our activities.
[00:17:52.000 --> 00:17:54.600] I see that we're already working on the meetings.
[00:17:54.600 --> 00:17:56.160] I see that we're going to have a long line
[00:17:56.160 --> 00:17:57.920] of the city's foundation for the meeting,
[00:17:57.920 --> 00:18:00.200] particularly on the communication costs.
[00:18:00.200 --> 00:18:02.680] First day of school classroom visits.
[00:18:02.680 --> 00:18:05.040] Education, you can put them on.
[00:18:05.040 --> 00:18:08.680] - Thank you.
[00:18:08.680 --> 00:18:11.080] Are there any board comments to see?
[00:18:13.960 --> 00:18:18.960] - Yes, I wanted to follow up on the discussion
[00:18:18.960 --> 00:18:23.160] of the W, was this general assembly.
[00:18:23.160 --> 00:18:28.240] We're still trying to find a time for five of us to meet.
[00:18:28.240 --> 00:18:30.640] I think maybe we'll go a little more round.
[00:18:30.640 --> 00:18:34.240] That's possible close to September 18th,
[00:18:34.240 --> 00:18:36.800] which is right before the general assembly.
[00:18:36.800 --> 00:18:41.800] And the idea is that each of us will take our personal votes
[00:18:43.120 --> 00:18:46.240] and get those to me a few days before our meeting
[00:18:46.240 --> 00:18:47.600] and then we'll come together.
[00:18:47.600 --> 00:18:50.440] And hopefully it'll be just a quick discussion
[00:18:50.440 --> 00:18:52.400] by us, we don't want to get our votes out there,
[00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:56.200] but we can kind of send them on how we want to vote
[00:18:56.200 --> 00:18:59.280] with those walks that I think is.
[00:18:59.280 --> 00:19:02.520] Oh, I also wanted to add a couple more items
[00:19:02.520 --> 00:19:04.120] to Brian's list.
[00:19:04.120 --> 00:19:07.720] I did get to come to my first viewing soccer game
[00:19:07.720 --> 00:19:11.260] this weekend, so that was fun.
[00:19:11.260 --> 00:19:15.240] And one more item I wanted to bring up,
[00:19:15.240 --> 00:19:17.080] I've been working the last couple of months
[00:19:17.080 --> 00:19:19.160] on the discussion item.
[00:19:19.160 --> 00:19:22.720] And tonight I wanted to bring into more attention
[00:19:22.720 --> 00:19:26.600] to asking for support from more members
[00:19:26.600 --> 00:19:29.520] who included on the next agenda.
[00:19:29.520 --> 00:19:30.880] I'll give a little bit of background,
[00:19:30.880 --> 00:19:33.480] but if we do bring to the agenda,
[00:19:33.480 --> 00:19:35.680] we'll have the discussion about the way.
[00:19:35.680 --> 00:19:39.000] And this is related to sports.
[00:19:39.000 --> 00:19:43.260] As a board we delegate our authority to the WIAA
[00:19:43.260 --> 00:19:48.260] to regulate the conduct of our activities and athletics.
[00:19:48.260 --> 00:19:53.740] And like within WASA, we as a district have opportunities
[00:19:53.740 --> 00:19:58.540] to submit proposed changes to positions and bylaws
[00:19:58.540 --> 00:20:00.660] and to be able to conducts.
[00:20:00.660 --> 00:20:05.620] WIAA has a similar process for amendments
[00:20:05.620 --> 00:20:10.260] that we as a board are encouraged to participate in.
[00:20:10.260 --> 00:20:14.400] There are 12 different school districts across Washington
[00:20:14.400 --> 00:20:18.480] state that have gone through this process this summer.
[00:20:18.480 --> 00:20:21.600] They're either originating or supporting schools
[00:20:21.600 --> 00:20:25.160] for an amendment to the WIAA rule book
[00:20:25.160 --> 00:20:28.660] specific to the gender identity policy.
[00:20:28.660 --> 00:20:30.920] And there are many more school districts
[00:20:30.920 --> 00:20:34.960] that are considering taking part in this discussion.
[00:20:34.960 --> 00:20:38.060] So, the last couple months I've been working
[00:20:38.060 --> 00:20:42.220] on developing a resolution and a proposed amendment
[00:20:42.220 --> 00:20:44.660] to the WIAA rules,
[00:20:44.660 --> 00:20:47.920] relative to the gender identity policy,
[00:20:47.920 --> 00:20:51.100] that seems to be inclusive of all students
[00:20:51.100 --> 00:20:53.180] that want to participate in athletics
[00:20:53.180 --> 00:20:55.500] and that honors the progress we made
[00:20:55.500 --> 00:20:58.060] with fairness and verbal sports.
[00:20:58.060 --> 00:21:01.220] Recognizing that performance advantages and males
[00:21:01.220 --> 00:21:05.560] have females have pretty equal opportunities.
[00:21:05.560 --> 00:21:08.200] So, I wanted to let you guys know
[00:21:08.200 --> 00:21:11.080] I followed our policy.
[00:21:11.080 --> 00:21:14.600] You can request it at this meeting about the agenda.
[00:21:14.600 --> 00:21:16.440] I haven't been successful,
[00:21:16.440 --> 00:21:18.400] so I'm asking for your more support
[00:21:18.400 --> 00:21:22.280] to add this discussion piece or agenda
[00:21:22.280 --> 00:21:24.960] to our next meeting, excuse me.
[00:21:24.960 --> 00:21:28.040] I've brought the copies of the resolution
[00:21:28.040 --> 00:21:31.360] and I'm gonna ask out just a second for you in a preview.
[00:21:31.360 --> 00:21:36.440] I've also included in their Linden School Districts
[00:21:36.440 --> 00:21:40.940] resolution that they passed a couple of weeks ago
[00:21:40.940 --> 00:21:43.020] that's of the same nature.
[00:21:43.020 --> 00:21:45.400] And I've incorporated some preliminary
[00:21:45.400 --> 00:21:47.980] before recommendations in the copy that you're gonna get
[00:21:47.980 --> 00:21:48.820] as well.
[00:21:48.820 --> 00:21:53.720] So, I will bring the motion forward
[00:21:53.720 --> 00:21:55.520] whenever it's appropriate whether that's
[00:21:55.520 --> 00:21:58.520] your business score, agenda, issues,
[00:21:58.520 --> 00:22:01.120] or if you recommend to me
[00:22:01.120 --> 00:22:03.040] if you wanna see that motion.
[00:22:03.040 --> 00:22:10.040] To motion it to add to the next meeting, just a moment.
[00:22:10.040 --> 00:22:15.320] Thank you.
[00:22:15.320 --> 00:22:17.720] At this time, Dr. Kinnickson,
[00:22:17.720 --> 00:22:20.200] we are quite super excited to work with you.
[00:22:20.200 --> 00:22:21.560] Thank you so much.
[00:22:24.200 --> 00:22:25.840] Thank you so much.
[00:22:25.840 --> 00:22:29.240] First week of school, last week went very well
[00:22:29.240 --> 00:22:31.480] for those staff and our building managers
[00:22:31.480 --> 00:22:33.320] for a smooth opening.
[00:22:33.320 --> 00:22:36.600] I am very pleased to share that our student enrollment
[00:22:36.600 --> 00:22:39.400] on the fourth day of school, Friday,
[00:22:39.400 --> 00:22:42.760] is or was higher than our projected enrollment.
[00:22:42.760 --> 00:22:44.920] We will have, I will have for the board
[00:22:44.920 --> 00:22:47.280] our official numbers after the fourth day
[00:22:47.280 --> 00:22:49.800] of kindergarten on Thursday of this week.
[00:22:49.800 --> 00:22:54.400] So far, we have 4,150 student FBE
[00:22:54.400 --> 00:22:57.800] and our projection was 4,027 FBE.
[00:22:57.800 --> 00:23:00.480] So, that's about a great thing
[00:23:00.480 --> 00:23:03.040] for students about projection.
[00:23:03.040 --> 00:23:07.880] So, the principal group and the leadership team
[00:23:07.880 --> 00:23:11.160] will be reviewing the class sizes,
[00:23:11.160 --> 00:23:13.840] see if there are any classes that need immediate remedy
[00:23:13.840 --> 00:23:16.080] by way of extra section or other support.
[00:23:16.080 --> 00:23:17.320] So, we're gonna work on that
[00:23:17.320 --> 00:23:19.240] and if you just don't be a student
[00:23:19.240 --> 00:23:20.880] with Jolene and Valentino here,
[00:23:20.880 --> 00:23:24.360] we'll recalculate our budget projections
[00:23:24.360 --> 00:23:27.440] for 24/25 based on our actual enrollment.
[00:23:27.440 --> 00:23:30.560] But, some really good news there.
[00:23:30.560 --> 00:23:33.640] I also wanted to share that last week,
[00:23:33.640 --> 00:23:37.720] I attended on behalf of the district and city council meeting
[00:23:37.720 --> 00:23:40.560] where they had a presentation about both
[00:23:40.560 --> 00:23:44.000] and I about our energy storage system project.
[00:23:44.000 --> 00:23:47.120] It was a very good opportunity for me
[00:23:47.120 --> 00:23:49.680] to be there and hear about the issue
[00:23:49.680 --> 00:23:52.400] that is very important to our community.
[00:23:52.400 --> 00:23:54.480] And, about two weeks ago,
[00:23:54.480 --> 00:23:57.120] the Evergreen modular ribbon cutting
[00:23:57.120 --> 00:24:02.120] was a wonderful celebration of our newly minted modular
[00:24:02.120 --> 00:24:05.640] over there at Evergreen.
[00:24:05.640 --> 00:24:07.840] It was attended by staff, parents,
[00:24:07.840 --> 00:24:09.920] and city leaders such as Mayor Johnson,
[00:24:09.920 --> 00:24:11.960] Chief Wagner, and Chief McBride,
[00:24:11.960 --> 00:24:13.880] then our sixth graders.
[00:24:13.880 --> 00:24:16.760] I imagine they are happy to be using
[00:24:16.760 --> 00:24:19.160] the voucher or the voucher.
[00:24:19.160 --> 00:24:22.500] And that's it for my superintendent's report tonight.
[00:24:22.500 --> 00:24:23.860] Vice President Russell.
[00:24:23.860 --> 00:24:28.320] Okay, Dr. Nicholson, at this time,
[00:24:28.320 --> 00:24:30.400] our student board best, Adriana Rodriguez,
[00:24:30.400 --> 00:24:32.200] since Mr. White will now provide that
[00:24:32.200 --> 00:24:34.600] to the community she's working with.
[00:24:45.600 --> 00:24:48.600] (audience laughing)
[00:24:48.600 --> 00:24:56.960] So, active year report for Zoonably High School.
[00:24:56.960 --> 00:24:59.940] Zoonably hosted its first home football game
[00:24:59.940 --> 00:25:02.280] again, separate Zoonably High School,
[00:25:02.280 --> 00:25:04.280] and we won 42-2-0.
[00:25:04.280 --> 00:25:07.600] Afterwards, we hosted a pet dance
[00:25:07.600 --> 00:25:09.920] and before the football game,
[00:25:09.920 --> 00:25:11.640] we hosted a pet assembly.
[00:25:11.640 --> 00:25:13.400] And the A&E has officially started
[00:25:13.400 --> 00:25:14.760] planning this year's homecoming,
[00:25:14.760 --> 00:25:18.720] so it's taking place early on September 28th,
[00:25:18.720 --> 00:25:20.680] and we're also starting on coming week
[00:25:20.680 --> 00:25:22.680] at 10 years old, eight months.
[00:25:22.680 --> 00:25:33.560] A little bit of a thing going on,
[00:25:33.560 --> 00:25:35.200] first, at your high school this year,
[00:25:35.200 --> 00:25:38.360] our, this year, we're gonna make a week,
[00:25:38.360 --> 00:25:40.520] which is our house.
[00:25:40.520 --> 00:25:44.960] We're gonna make a place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
[00:25:44.960 --> 00:25:47.800] on Wednesday, the initial day, the other day.
[00:25:47.800 --> 00:25:52.760] Yeah, that's the end of the code, that's issue.
[00:25:52.760 --> 00:25:56.360] We're gonna leave that at the end of the court.
[00:25:56.360 --> 00:25:59.840] 4,000 people have left the building from the apartment,
[00:25:59.840 --> 00:26:01.480] parking in the hand of Georgia,
[00:26:01.480 --> 00:26:05.600] about a garage, to Zoonably School District,
[00:26:05.600 --> 00:26:07.640] to cross-acquire equipment,
[00:26:07.640 --> 00:26:10.280] and we really have a special interest in it,
[00:26:10.280 --> 00:26:14.620] so we're gonna leave that at the end of the court.
[00:26:14.620 --> 00:26:19.620] All right, we're gonna leave that at the end of the court.
[00:26:19.620 --> 00:26:23.400] Okay, thank you, so that's our end of the court.
[00:26:23.400 --> 00:26:25.040] Dr. McEvoy, is there anything on your witness?
[00:26:25.040 --> 00:26:26.960] No questions, please.
[00:26:26.960 --> 00:26:31.960] Not tonight, we will have a moment at budget or report.
[00:26:31.960 --> 00:26:35.000] Okay.
[00:26:36.400 --> 00:26:39.160] At this time, and as public suggestion and comment,
[00:26:39.160 --> 00:26:41.240] the school board is very interested
[00:26:41.240 --> 00:26:42.560] in hearing from our community,
[00:26:42.560 --> 00:26:43.960] until other comments are welcome,
[00:26:43.960 --> 00:26:46.320] you can already put your board with us.
[00:26:46.320 --> 00:26:47.640] We're gonna have a responsibility
[00:26:47.640 --> 00:26:50.600] to ensure that we hold the operation of the meeting.
[00:26:50.600 --> 00:26:52.680] Before we open the floor for public comments,
[00:26:52.680 --> 00:26:53.920] I'd like to share if you're minded
[00:26:53.920 --> 00:26:56.000] through my urge to put that in the board.
[00:26:56.000 --> 00:26:59.320] When not required, we state your full name for the record,
[00:26:59.320 --> 00:27:02.600] so follow-up can be ensured as necessary.
[00:27:02.600 --> 00:27:04.640] Comments are asked to be limited to three minutes
[00:27:04.640 --> 00:27:06.360] to ensure that others have the opportunity
[00:27:06.360 --> 00:27:07.840] to address the board.
[00:27:07.840 --> 00:27:10.520] Time may not be converging the need.
[00:27:10.520 --> 00:27:12.600] Public commentary is another type of dialogue
[00:27:12.600 --> 00:27:14.120] between the board and the public.
[00:27:14.120 --> 00:27:15.880] The board will not respond to statements,
[00:27:15.880 --> 00:27:18.840] questions, or challenges made during public commentary,
[00:27:18.840 --> 00:27:20.760] but will take them under advisement.
[00:27:20.760 --> 00:27:22.920] Please note that the board's silence is neutral.
[00:27:22.920 --> 00:27:24.420] It is neither a single agreement
[00:27:24.420 --> 00:27:26.960] nor a disagreement, speak to your remarks.
[00:27:26.960 --> 00:27:28.760] If necessary, the superintendent
[00:27:28.760 --> 00:27:31.320] or designee can follow-up afterward.
[00:27:31.320 --> 00:27:33.440] It is important to the board that all community members
[00:27:33.440 --> 00:27:36.360] are welcomed and safe in the board's business meetings.
[00:27:36.360 --> 00:27:38.480] We ask the audience to treat all attendees
[00:27:38.480 --> 00:27:40.480] with respect, visibility, justice,
[00:27:40.480 --> 00:27:43.400] and security school district expects of students,
[00:27:43.400 --> 00:27:46.120] staff, and community members in our schools.
[00:27:46.120 --> 00:27:48.440] Please be aware when the proper issues will be discussed
[00:27:48.440 --> 00:27:50.920] in public session, as the board cannot comment
[00:27:50.920 --> 00:27:53.960] or assess personnel items that are beyond me.
[00:27:53.960 --> 00:27:55.480] All personnel items will be handled
[00:27:55.480 --> 00:27:56.960] in accordance with board policy,
[00:27:56.960 --> 00:27:59.280] and you are all encouraged to speak to district staff
[00:27:59.280 --> 00:28:02.960] regarding personnel concerns as per our policy.
[00:28:02.960 --> 00:28:04.360] We will reward more meetings
[00:28:04.360 --> 00:28:06.120] and I will start recording on our website,
[00:28:06.120 --> 00:28:08.040] area of technical issues.
[00:28:08.040 --> 00:28:09.600] Please be advised that public comments
[00:28:09.600 --> 00:28:11.000] will be of moderate value,
[00:28:11.000 --> 00:28:13.080] and that can step to being recorded
[00:28:13.080 --> 00:28:16.080] or vice-public-private conversations held.
[00:28:16.080 --> 00:28:18.120] During public meeting,
[00:28:18.120 --> 00:28:20.560] thank you very much, and the floor is now open.
[00:28:20.560 --> 00:28:24.160] At this time, I would like to welcome Tina Jean-Claude,
[00:28:24.160 --> 00:28:27.080] Jean-Claude, who's a qualified 32-year-old.
[00:28:27.080 --> 00:28:30.240] (audience applauding)
[00:28:30.240 --> 00:28:32.820] (bell ringing)
[00:28:32.820 --> 00:28:43.560] Okay, can you hear me?
[00:28:43.560 --> 00:28:49.640] My understanding is that we can address
[00:28:49.640 --> 00:28:54.640] the policy issues that didn't even come forward,
[00:28:54.640 --> 00:28:56.800] is that correct?
[00:28:56.800 --> 00:28:59.960] (audience chattering)
[00:28:59.960 --> 00:29:09.260] (woman screaming)
[00:29:09.260 --> 00:29:12.420] (audience chattering)
[00:29:12.420 --> 00:29:21.520] Okay, I believe in taking a look at it again, okay.
[00:29:21.520 --> 00:29:24.000] I believe in taking a look at the signs
[00:29:24.000 --> 00:29:26.200] of those involved in everything,
[00:29:26.200 --> 00:29:29.360] so I decided to interview myself
[00:29:29.360 --> 00:29:32.600] and we're gonna give some readings out to you.
[00:29:32.600 --> 00:29:35.080] So, probably a tension,
[00:29:35.080 --> 00:29:37.520] because there's been a lot of news
[00:29:37.520 --> 00:29:41.920] about a male to participate in women's sports,
[00:29:41.920 --> 00:29:46.920] and so I was at a pay-go-ins and I found this information
[00:29:50.880 --> 00:29:55.600] that post-cubescent males have 50 times the amount
[00:29:55.600 --> 00:29:58.160] of circulating testosterone,
[00:29:58.160 --> 00:30:01.760] as opposed to post-cubescent females.
[00:30:01.760 --> 00:30:06.080] This translates into a 10 to 12% performance of them,
[00:30:06.080 --> 00:30:08.880] and vantage in running against women,
[00:30:08.880 --> 00:30:12.040] and a 50% advantage in tapping events
[00:30:12.040 --> 00:30:14.480] according to the pain and pain,
[00:30:14.480 --> 00:30:16.480] and it can improve your article.
[00:30:16.480 --> 00:30:20.840] Formal therapies that decrease testosterone
[00:30:20.840 --> 00:30:23.440] and increase estrogen have significantly
[00:30:23.440 --> 00:30:25.400] reduces the advantage.
[00:30:25.400 --> 00:30:28.360] Nonetheless, natural male advantages,
[00:30:28.360 --> 00:30:32.400] including bone structure, heart size, and form capacity,
[00:30:32.400 --> 00:30:35.120] are not eliminated by hormone therapy,
[00:30:35.120 --> 00:30:39.320] especially if the transition is post-cubescent.
[00:30:39.320 --> 00:30:42.440] This controversy has reached the high school level,
[00:30:42.440 --> 00:30:45.140] where some cisgender women are discovering
[00:30:45.140 --> 00:30:47.840] that they are at a physical disadvantage.
[00:30:47.840 --> 00:30:50.420] In protest, it was dominated.
[00:30:50.420 --> 00:30:54.500] This has resulted in their school records being eclipsed,
[00:30:54.500 --> 00:30:56.360] as well as the loss of scholarships
[00:30:56.360 --> 00:30:58.800] and state championships.
[00:30:58.800 --> 00:31:02.160] The rewards women believe they have earned
[00:31:02.160 --> 00:31:04.400] on the merits from years of intense training
[00:31:04.400 --> 00:31:07.120] in a personal set by a certain cause
[00:31:07.120 --> 00:31:12.120] because of human-level change in the terms of competition.
[00:31:12.120 --> 00:31:15.480] An outstanding question that has to do with sport,
[00:31:15.480 --> 00:31:19.480] is whether policy makers can support this type of competition
[00:31:19.480 --> 00:31:22.700] and still claim the championship to women.
[00:31:22.700 --> 00:31:27.240] Scientific, my thought is, scientific documentation
[00:31:27.240 --> 00:31:29.920] has to be provided that our female athletes
[00:31:29.920 --> 00:31:32.320] in the Seville Police School District
[00:31:32.320 --> 00:31:35.640] will be safe competing in Seville Police Court
[00:31:35.640 --> 00:31:37.720] when they are at a disability,
[00:31:37.720 --> 00:31:39.880] excuse me, disadvantaged,
[00:31:39.880 --> 00:31:42.720] physically, mentally, emotionally, and human.
[00:31:42.720 --> 00:31:45.560] (audience applauding)
[00:31:45.560 --> 00:31:47.200] - Thank you, Chair.
[00:31:47.200 --> 00:31:48.780] Next is Brad Moorley.
[00:31:48.780 --> 00:31:53.800] - Hi, I'm Brad Moorley.
[00:31:53.800 --> 00:31:56.320] I just got a couple of things to say.
[00:31:56.320 --> 00:32:01.120] So, I have a daughter in fifth grade
[00:32:01.120 --> 00:32:04.440] that actively participates in multiple sports
[00:32:04.440 --> 00:32:08.320] and will continue to do so as she gets older.
[00:32:08.320 --> 00:32:11.280] I understand the board has the authority
[00:32:11.280 --> 00:32:14.440] to pass a resolution and a famous
[00:32:14.440 --> 00:32:17.520] to return girls constitutional rights
[00:32:17.520 --> 00:32:20.240] to equal protection under the law
[00:32:20.240 --> 00:32:23.600] and equal opportunities in athletes.
[00:32:23.600 --> 00:32:26.160] I cannot wrap my mind around
[00:32:26.160 --> 00:32:30.600] why this is even a discussion that needs to be had.
[00:32:30.600 --> 00:32:33.600] My daughter deserves to be provided
[00:32:33.600 --> 00:32:36.920] what the constitution has sought her.
[00:32:36.920 --> 00:32:39.200] I do not believe this is a decision
[00:32:39.200 --> 00:32:42.400] that should be left out by the board members
[00:32:42.400 --> 00:32:44.600] and one administrator.
[00:32:44.600 --> 00:32:47.520] This is a decision parents should be involved in.
[00:32:47.520 --> 00:32:49.960] We as community members
[00:32:49.960 --> 00:32:52.400] voted for board members
[00:32:52.400 --> 00:32:55.840] to have our children's best interests in mind.
[00:32:55.840 --> 00:32:58.600] This is not something to sweep under the rug
[00:32:58.600 --> 00:33:01.080] and assume you don't let the parents
[00:33:01.080 --> 00:33:03.280] who voted for you want
[00:33:03.280 --> 00:33:08.200] or making your decision so you don't ruffle any of those.
[00:33:08.200 --> 00:33:13.040] This is not a ban on trans transgender athletes.
[00:33:13.040 --> 00:33:16.960] This is about fairness and safety for all athletes.
[00:33:16.960 --> 00:33:21.200] Need to start involving parents in decisions like this
[00:33:21.200 --> 00:33:26.200] to stand up for super ruling girls in competitive sports.
[00:33:26.200 --> 00:33:29.800] Also, I'd like to voice my concern
[00:33:29.800 --> 00:33:32.640] about the best battery system
[00:33:32.640 --> 00:33:37.160] they are proposing to install, I hope the board slash
[00:33:37.160 --> 00:33:39.700] that administration would be justice.
[00:33:39.700 --> 00:33:43.360] I know this duality to stop this problem.
[00:33:43.360 --> 00:33:44.200] Thank you.
[00:33:44.200 --> 00:33:46.580] - Thank you, Brad.
[00:33:46.580 --> 00:33:48.580] Next time you can ask Cindy Harris.
[00:33:48.580 --> 00:34:00.040] - Hi, my name is Cindy Perry.
[00:34:00.040 --> 00:34:02.440] I was here in June and other people
[00:34:02.440 --> 00:34:04.720] that finished what I had to say.
[00:34:04.720 --> 00:34:07.600] When I made a comment about your children
[00:34:07.600 --> 00:34:08.860] being in the public schools today,
[00:34:08.860 --> 00:34:10.520] I'm slowly talking about what's been a lot
[00:34:10.520 --> 00:34:13.080] in schools everywhere.
[00:34:13.080 --> 00:34:15.520] I have a son who has an learning disability
[00:34:15.520 --> 00:34:18.560] who I think the school has done a great job working with me.
[00:34:18.560 --> 00:34:23.560] So, that, yeah.
[00:34:23.560 --> 00:34:27.720] When I was at the meeting last month,
[00:34:27.720 --> 00:34:30.400] I heard a lot of mumbling in reference
[00:34:30.400 --> 00:34:32.840] to the transgender topic I brought up.
[00:34:32.840 --> 00:34:35.280] And I looked at all of what I'm trying to say
[00:34:35.280 --> 00:34:38.560] is all students have the right to feel comfortable
[00:34:38.560 --> 00:34:41.680] and shouldn't have to tell someone when they're uncomfortable.
[00:34:41.680 --> 00:34:43.200] This needs to be something in place
[00:34:43.200 --> 00:34:46.080] where transgenders have somewhere else to change
[00:34:46.080 --> 00:34:49.120] for PE, sports, et cetera.
[00:34:49.120 --> 00:34:50.680] It's not fair forcing the majority
[00:34:50.680 --> 00:34:51.960] to see things in a lot of programs
[00:34:51.960 --> 00:34:54.400] they shouldn't have to or feeling uncomfortable.
[00:34:54.400 --> 00:34:56.840] As for the homecoming,
[00:34:56.840 --> 00:34:59.960] having two of the same sex elected for royalty,
[00:34:59.960 --> 00:35:02.580] you're being unfair to the office of sex.
[00:35:02.580 --> 00:35:06.840] When I addressed this and said that students
[00:35:06.840 --> 00:35:08.600] should have the option between picking
[00:35:08.600 --> 00:35:10.440] between one boy and one girl,
[00:35:10.440 --> 00:35:13.720] I was told that they can't do that as much as I like.
[00:35:13.720 --> 00:35:15.920] As far as the retired teacher that was here in June,
[00:35:15.920 --> 00:35:20.360] I agree with her 100% about no sex education in schools.
[00:35:20.360 --> 00:35:22.200] It's been taken way too far.
[00:35:22.200 --> 00:35:24.200] No one should have to explain the birds and the bees
[00:35:24.200 --> 00:35:25.800] and everything else is going on.
[00:35:29.440 --> 00:35:33.420] Biological boys should not be allowed to compete
[00:35:33.420 --> 00:35:35.100] in girls' sports period.
[00:35:35.100 --> 00:35:37.140] There are a number of reasons why.
[00:35:37.140 --> 00:35:38.540] I'm sure that you've had them receive
[00:35:38.540 --> 00:35:41.420] all kinds of letters explaining such.
[00:35:41.420 --> 00:35:43.420] There's an easy solution to this
[00:35:43.420 --> 00:35:46.220] and that is use the sex on the birth certificate
[00:35:46.220 --> 00:35:49.620] for the athlete that is interested in competing.
[00:35:49.620 --> 00:35:53.780] My youngest son thinks I'm wasting my time.
[00:35:53.780 --> 00:35:55.940] It's said, long you know nothing's gonna change.
[00:35:55.940 --> 00:35:58.740] Pretty sad that most of the students feel this way.
[00:35:58.740 --> 00:36:00.280] This is Sandra Wooley.
[00:36:00.280 --> 00:36:01.660] We shouldn't be following,
[00:36:01.660 --> 00:36:03.120] we shouldn't be following our trend
[00:36:03.120 --> 00:36:04.840] just because it's popular elsewhere.
[00:36:04.840 --> 00:36:06.760] It's time to stand up for what's right.
[00:36:06.760 --> 00:36:13.500] - Okay, so the next step is to go on the head.
[00:36:28.500 --> 00:36:33.060] I have two children in the State Police School District.
[00:36:33.060 --> 00:36:34.780] It's not easy for me to stand up here
[00:36:34.780 --> 00:36:36.700] to gain a chairman concern,
[00:36:36.700 --> 00:36:39.020] especially since I hold a great deal of respect
[00:36:39.020 --> 00:36:41.380] for each of you on a personal level.
[00:36:41.380 --> 00:36:43.220] I appreciate the time and energy
[00:36:43.220 --> 00:36:46.040] you all dedicate to serving on this board.
[00:36:46.040 --> 00:36:48.140] But the issue I want to address today
[00:36:48.140 --> 00:36:51.460] is one that I initially thought must be a rumor.
[00:36:51.460 --> 00:36:53.540] Unfortunately, it is not.
[00:36:53.540 --> 00:36:55.660] And I find it to be really troubling.
[00:36:55.660 --> 00:36:57.740] I learned that our high school has decided
[00:36:57.740 --> 00:37:00.300] that a USA theme night for our football game
[00:37:00.300 --> 00:37:02.080] is too political.
[00:37:02.080 --> 00:37:05.060] This is not just disappointing its concerns.
[00:37:05.060 --> 00:37:07.380] Rather than encouraging pride in our country,
[00:37:07.380 --> 00:37:10.300] the school has chosen to cancel the USA theme,
[00:37:10.300 --> 00:37:12.980] replacing it with a minion's theme.
[00:37:12.980 --> 00:37:15.380] The reason given is that a USA theme
[00:37:15.380 --> 00:37:17.820] might disturb political sensitivity,
[00:37:17.820 --> 00:37:22.340] particularly with elections coming up.
[00:37:22.340 --> 00:37:23.980] I don't understand the importance
[00:37:23.980 --> 00:37:27.340] of maintaining a safe environment for all students,
[00:37:27.340 --> 00:37:28.820] but I have to ask,
[00:37:28.820 --> 00:37:31.980] since when did patriotism become divisive?
[00:37:31.980 --> 00:37:34.020] Is it love for one's country,
[00:37:34.020 --> 00:37:37.380] something that transcends political lines?
[00:37:37.380 --> 00:37:39.940] At the end of the day, we are all Americans.
[00:37:39.940 --> 00:37:42.300] Part of the beauty of this country
[00:37:42.300 --> 00:37:45.060] is the freedom to choose your political affiliations
[00:37:45.060 --> 00:37:46.980] and express reviews.
[00:37:46.980 --> 00:37:48.820] What we should be teaching our children
[00:37:48.820 --> 00:37:51.460] is how to engage in civil conversations
[00:37:51.460 --> 00:37:53.180] about differences of opinion,
[00:37:53.180 --> 00:37:56.380] not avoiding foreign topics like patriotism.
[00:37:56.380 --> 00:37:58.700] Our students are encouraged to express themselves
[00:37:58.700 --> 00:38:00.180] in so many other ways,
[00:38:00.180 --> 00:38:02.540] so why is expressing pride in their country
[00:38:02.540 --> 00:38:04.500] suddenly off limits?
[00:38:04.500 --> 00:38:07.260] This is not the secretly high school I remember.
[00:38:07.260 --> 00:38:10.300] Our town has a parallel history full of young people
[00:38:10.300 --> 00:38:12.700] who answered the call to serve their country.
[00:38:12.700 --> 00:38:14.820] Many of them never came back.
[00:38:14.820 --> 00:38:16.660] They made the ultimate sacrifice
[00:38:16.660 --> 00:38:18.860] for the freedoms we enjoy today.
[00:38:18.860 --> 00:38:20.540] To suggest that patriotism
[00:38:20.540 --> 00:38:23.200] is too political dishonors their memory,
[00:38:23.200 --> 00:38:27.480] are we raising cups who shy away from pride in their country?
[00:38:27.480 --> 00:38:28.900] What message are we sending
[00:38:28.900 --> 00:38:30.540] when we replace an opportunity
[00:38:30.540 --> 00:38:33.520] to unite under a shared national identity
[00:38:33.520 --> 00:38:35.680] with a minion's knife?
[00:38:35.680 --> 00:38:38.720] I respectfully disagree with the school decision.
[00:38:38.720 --> 00:38:41.380] Patriotism is a core value
[00:38:41.380 --> 00:38:44.380] and it's something that we should be embraced,
[00:38:44.380 --> 00:38:48.420] not avoid due to potential controversy.
[00:38:48.420 --> 00:38:51.380] It's an important part of who we are as a community.
[00:38:51.380 --> 00:38:54.520] The theme night is scheduled for September 20th.
[00:38:54.520 --> 00:38:58.960] I urge you to reconsider and reinstate the U.S. safety.
[00:38:58.960 --> 00:39:01.840] There's still time to celebrate what you guys have.
[00:39:01.840 --> 00:39:08.120] Thank you, everyone.
[00:39:08.120 --> 00:39:10.320] Next, we have Sally Harrelson.
[00:39:18.320 --> 00:39:23.320] I am here to ask the school board, the superintendent,
[00:39:23.320 --> 00:39:27.220] to stand with the citizens of the city,
[00:39:27.220 --> 00:39:31.020] along with our mayor, our city council,
[00:39:31.020 --> 00:39:32.820] our commissioner,
[00:39:32.820 --> 00:39:38.780] and our state representatives
[00:39:38.780 --> 00:39:43.780] to oppose the best installment out on Make the Broke.
[00:39:46.940 --> 00:39:50.020] And the reason I'm here, really,
[00:39:50.020 --> 00:39:54.220] is to talk about your emergency response plan.
[00:39:54.220 --> 00:39:59.840] They aren't gonna do anything for you.
[00:39:59.840 --> 00:40:04.360] The fire that's burning right now in California
[00:40:04.360 --> 00:40:09.360] started at noon and the word got out five hours later
[00:40:15.160 --> 00:40:20.000] shelter in place or evacuate, five hours.
[00:40:20.000 --> 00:40:21.620] According to what I've read,
[00:40:21.620 --> 00:40:26.620] you have 16 seconds to shelter in place or evacuate.
[00:40:26.620 --> 00:40:30.860] They're not gonna give you any money.
[00:40:30.860 --> 00:40:33.600] They're not gonna help you with a plan.
[00:40:33.600 --> 00:40:37.400] You're going to be either on your own
[00:40:37.400 --> 00:40:39.920] or you're gonna be relying on
[00:40:39.920 --> 00:40:43.520] the county emergency response plan.
[00:40:44.440 --> 00:40:47.020] Our firefighters are gonna be busy.
[00:40:47.020 --> 00:40:51.020] They're gonna be no help.
[00:40:51.020 --> 00:40:56.340] So I would urge you, as a board,
[00:40:56.340 --> 00:41:00.500] to come up with a response to this project
[00:41:00.500 --> 00:41:04.040] and let your voice be heard.
[00:41:04.040 --> 00:41:09.080] - Thank you, Sally.
[00:41:09.080 --> 00:41:10.840] Next, we have Harrelson.
[00:41:10.840 --> 00:41:13.840] (audience applauds)
[00:41:13.840 --> 00:41:20.360] - Hi, my name is Carla Martin
[00:41:20.360 --> 00:41:23.200] and I live on Peter Bird's Road.
[00:41:23.200 --> 00:41:25.120] As you may know, or may not,
[00:41:25.120 --> 00:41:27.120] I want you to prepare tonight.
[00:41:27.120 --> 00:41:31.440] I have a 42-year-old son who is transgender
[00:41:31.440 --> 00:41:33.840] when he was in school in schools.
[00:41:33.840 --> 00:41:35.840] He was born and emailed
[00:41:35.840 --> 00:41:39.680] and began living as a male in his early 30s.
[00:41:39.680 --> 00:41:42.960] And just his other side is I think all about this sportsman
[00:41:42.960 --> 00:41:46.400] that he couldn't bounce a desk at all
[00:41:46.400 --> 00:41:49.040] when he was a little girl and he still can't.
[00:41:49.040 --> 00:41:52.720] So they're argued that kids with much different skill levels
[00:41:52.720 --> 00:41:53.960] no matter their gender.
[00:41:53.960 --> 00:41:57.720] But my husband and I love Harrelson dearly
[00:41:57.720 --> 00:42:00.160] and if you knew him, you'd probably love him too.
[00:42:00.160 --> 00:42:04.280] He lives to help people over his private and professional life.
[00:42:04.280 --> 00:42:07.580] He's a well-adjusted, productive member of the community.
[00:42:08.460 --> 00:42:10.820] (audience applauds)
[00:42:10.820 --> 00:42:13.660] I have met several LGBTQ folks
[00:42:13.660 --> 00:42:15.900] and probably many more than I did not know
[00:42:15.900 --> 00:42:17.780] what the gender identity was
[00:42:17.780 --> 00:42:19.100] and why should I?
[00:42:19.100 --> 00:42:22.420] Because in years, we're all just people.
[00:42:22.420 --> 00:42:25.220] And I'm here to tell you that you
[00:42:25.220 --> 00:42:27.580] and the children attending our schools
[00:42:27.580 --> 00:42:31.620] are in no danger from the LGBTQ people.
[00:42:31.620 --> 00:42:34.900] You cannot catch homosexuality.
[00:42:34.900 --> 00:42:38.220] A person doesn't decide that their physical body
[00:42:38.220 --> 00:42:40.180] doesn't match their actual gender
[00:42:40.180 --> 00:42:42.620] because they've read not even a book.
[00:42:42.620 --> 00:42:45.340] They just know who they are.
[00:42:45.340 --> 00:42:47.260] And they've been around since the beginning
[00:42:47.260 --> 00:42:48.900] to human beings.
[00:42:48.900 --> 00:42:51.620] You are often considered by being cruel,
[00:42:51.620 --> 00:42:56.060] disapproving, obnoxious, or by banning books.
[00:42:56.060 --> 00:42:59.740] You can, however, negatively affect the general public
[00:42:59.740 --> 00:43:03.060] by your actions and being cruel to anyone
[00:43:03.060 --> 00:43:05.900] you need to power the family.
[00:43:05.900 --> 00:43:08.020] I recently read a comment from a man
[00:43:08.020 --> 00:43:11.540] who's a great teacher and has said to him,
[00:43:11.540 --> 00:43:14.300] "Your mother lets you read that book,"
[00:43:14.300 --> 00:43:16.460] and his response was,
[00:43:16.460 --> 00:43:19.240] "My mother lets me read whatever I've got."
[00:43:19.240 --> 00:43:23.820] His mother's enlightened philosophy of that time was,
[00:43:23.820 --> 00:43:28.260] "If a book is too mature or outside your experience,
[00:43:28.260 --> 00:43:30.140] "it will go over there yet.
[00:43:30.140 --> 00:43:32.100] "If a book is too disturbing,
[00:43:32.100 --> 00:43:33.820] "you'll put it down.
[00:43:33.820 --> 00:43:36.260] "Books can't hurt you."
[00:43:36.260 --> 00:43:38.620] She was never afraid of any information,
[00:43:38.620 --> 00:43:42.020] ideas, or philosophy that could be learned from the book.
[00:43:42.020 --> 00:43:44.700] So I'm going to repeat,
[00:43:44.700 --> 00:43:48.660] reading about people who are identified as LGBTQ
[00:43:48.660 --> 00:43:52.660] is not going to change anyone's gender identity.
[00:43:52.660 --> 00:43:55.620] But seeing such books on the shelves
[00:43:55.620 --> 00:43:58.380] in their public school library
[00:43:58.380 --> 00:44:02.140] can be affirming and even life-saving
[00:44:02.140 --> 00:44:05.660] to a young person who is grappling with those issues
[00:44:05.660 --> 00:44:08.740] in an often un-friendly world.
[00:44:08.740 --> 00:44:10.620] Public schools need to be friendly
[00:44:10.620 --> 00:44:12.660] and affirming to all the children.
[00:44:12.660 --> 00:44:15.980] All the children.
[00:44:15.980 --> 00:44:16.820] Thank you.
[00:44:16.820 --> 00:44:21.740] Next up, we have Major Crawl.
[00:44:21.740 --> 00:44:24.320] (upbeat music)
[00:44:24.320 --> 00:44:37.140] - I'm going to pull it out.
[00:44:37.140 --> 00:44:39.020] Okay, I'm going to get up here.
[00:44:39.020 --> 00:44:42.420] And I'll just get one another to stay.
[00:44:42.420 --> 00:44:44.180] (coughing)
[00:44:44.180 --> 00:44:45.820] Okay, thank you.
[00:44:45.820 --> 00:44:49.820] Readings, four timbers, and I have two different timbers.
[00:44:51.660 --> 00:44:53.780] I'm going to take a quick run.
[00:44:53.780 --> 00:44:55.180] I live on Vassar Road.
[00:44:55.180 --> 00:44:57.020] It's here to work.
[00:44:57.020 --> 00:44:59.540] I appreciate the opportunity to make a comment.
[00:44:59.540 --> 00:45:04.700] As regarding the Washington Municipal Actual Activities
[00:45:04.700 --> 00:45:09.700] Association, I have a quote here made by May Mailman
[00:45:09.700 --> 00:45:12.780] in the Independent Women's Forum.
[00:45:12.780 --> 00:45:17.140] Quote, "School decision makers must assist
[00:45:17.140 --> 00:45:20.660] "and should be informed of the contours of the law.
[00:45:20.660 --> 00:45:25.300] "And to urge the empowered to have educated conversations
[00:45:25.300 --> 00:45:28.340] "about violent acts of protection for their lives."
[00:45:28.340 --> 00:45:34.620] I strongly urge the board to address the next
[00:45:34.620 --> 00:45:37.500] open board meeting in discussion of and support
[00:45:37.500 --> 00:45:42.500] for a resolution that was scripted to the WIAA Scan
[00:45:42.500 --> 00:45:47.220] on Biological Affairs and Women and Girls Sports Keys
[00:45:47.220 --> 00:45:48.180] in our district.
[00:45:49.300 --> 00:45:52.740] The board in the school district must be transparent,
[00:45:52.740 --> 00:45:57.020] informative, accountable, and truthful
[00:45:57.020 --> 00:45:59.860] to our parents and public in all matters of policy.
[00:45:59.860 --> 00:46:03.300] And this is a very important one.
[00:46:03.300 --> 00:46:08.040] Thank you for your time and your duration of this topic.
[00:46:08.040 --> 00:46:14.900] - Next we have Cindy Egan.
[00:46:15.900 --> 00:46:20.900] Hi, my name is Cindy Egan, and I'd like to take this off
[00:46:20.900 --> 00:46:25.460] to a speech to our signers.
[00:46:25.460 --> 00:46:27.820] Cedarwood School is a permission statement
[00:46:27.820 --> 00:46:30.180] which allows you to get on board.
[00:46:30.180 --> 00:46:34.260] Every student graduates with the knowledge and skills
[00:46:34.260 --> 00:46:37.140] for teacher learning and success.
[00:46:37.140 --> 00:46:39.180] And what is a mission statement?
[00:46:39.180 --> 00:46:40.940] According to the box for fiction,
[00:46:40.940 --> 00:46:44.300] a mission statement is a formal summary
[00:46:44.300 --> 00:46:46.740] of the gains and the values of the company,
[00:46:46.740 --> 00:46:48.900] the organization, or the individual.
[00:46:48.900 --> 00:46:53.700] And my comments are directed at not only the school board,
[00:46:53.700 --> 00:46:58.780] but they're directed at Dr. Graham and our superintendent,
[00:46:58.780 --> 00:47:02.460] Mr. Bride of Isaacson, our assistant superintendent,
[00:47:02.460 --> 00:47:05.380] Mr. Daniel Lee, our executive director
[00:47:05.380 --> 00:47:07.980] of Human Resources at Student Support,
[00:47:07.980 --> 00:47:10.580] Mr. Tony Smith, our executive director
[00:47:10.580 --> 00:47:13.900] of Education Services, and Mr. Mike Schwaber
[00:47:13.900 --> 00:47:16.300] our director of Student Support.
[00:47:16.300 --> 00:47:20.860] Recently, I cross-bounded with a teacher
[00:47:20.860 --> 00:47:22.180] that's in the school district.
[00:47:22.180 --> 00:47:26.620] I'm not going to tell you if it's a man or a woman,
[00:47:26.620 --> 00:47:29.580] or what grade or at what school,
[00:47:29.580 --> 00:47:32.420] but during our conversation, it was revealed
[00:47:32.420 --> 00:47:36.660] and this teacher didn't mean to say anything
[00:47:36.660 --> 00:47:41.220] but said that you're left with much needed textbooks
[00:47:41.220 --> 00:47:42.660] in your classroom.
[00:47:42.660 --> 00:47:44.900] I mean, I've got a shock.
[00:47:44.900 --> 00:47:48.140] We're talking about probably 30 small students
[00:47:48.140 --> 00:47:50.540] who only provide textbooks in their classroom.
[00:47:50.540 --> 00:47:54.660] So the classrooms lack textbooks.
[00:47:54.660 --> 00:47:58.620] I'm sure she's not the only one that are necessary.
[00:47:58.620 --> 00:48:01.020] Teach students so that they will graduate
[00:48:01.020 --> 00:48:04.820] with knowledge and skills for future learning and success.
[00:48:04.820 --> 00:48:08.580] So it does not appear that the educational students
[00:48:08.580 --> 00:48:12.660] on this course, or rather the nurses,
[00:48:12.660 --> 00:48:14.020] doesn't seem to be personal,
[00:48:14.020 --> 00:48:17.180] but rather the continuing rising salaries
[00:48:17.180 --> 00:48:18.540] of our administrators.
[00:48:18.540 --> 00:48:23.060] According to the procedural lead to school district website,
[00:48:23.060 --> 00:48:26.860] you need to pay nine to 90% of the budget
[00:48:26.860 --> 00:48:31.300] based for the salaries and benefits of the employees.
[00:48:31.300 --> 00:48:35.060] Who loses the students?
[00:48:35.060 --> 00:48:37.300] Students are losing kind of all of it,
[00:48:37.300 --> 00:48:40.080] and they are no longer our primary,
[00:48:40.080 --> 00:48:42.140] our teacherless group,
[00:48:42.140 --> 00:48:44.380] if our students are not given the education
[00:48:44.380 --> 00:48:45.980] that they deserve.
[00:48:45.980 --> 00:48:47.220] Thank you very much.
[00:48:47.220 --> 00:48:52.700] Thank you, Cindy.
[00:48:52.700 --> 00:48:54.700] Next up, we have Donald.
[00:48:54.700 --> 00:49:06.740] I'm here to agree with Rubia's comments
[00:49:06.740 --> 00:49:09.780] about the equal protection and opportunity
[00:49:09.780 --> 00:49:10.940] for girls athletes.
[00:49:10.940 --> 00:49:12.780] I believe it's time to proceed to the list.
[00:49:12.780 --> 00:49:15.180] The board should be proactive,
[00:49:15.180 --> 00:49:17.860] and give the school protection an opportunity
[00:49:17.860 --> 00:49:19.740] for girls athletes.
[00:49:19.740 --> 00:49:23.540] The WIAA has a gender identity policy
[00:49:23.540 --> 00:49:27.220] that should be modified to protect girls at its course.
[00:49:27.220 --> 00:49:29.780] Biology for males should not be competing
[00:49:29.780 --> 00:49:33.060] with girls in athletic competitions.
[00:49:33.060 --> 00:49:36.180] Many school boards have already passed amendments
[00:49:36.180 --> 00:49:39.560] to the WIAA gender identity policy.
[00:49:39.560 --> 00:49:41.940] We must support the efficacy of girls
[00:49:41.940 --> 00:49:44.780] in high school and middle school schools.
[00:49:44.780 --> 00:49:45.620] Thank you.
[00:49:45.620 --> 00:49:49.160] - Thank you all.
[00:49:49.160 --> 00:49:50.820] Next we have Cathy, sir.
[00:49:50.820 --> 00:49:59.780] - Hi, I'm Cathy Sutton.
[00:49:59.780 --> 00:50:00.740] I'm here to say good morning,
[00:50:00.740 --> 00:50:02.420] and I'd like to talk about some of the reviews
[00:50:02.420 --> 00:50:04.820] from the waiters who have been voted in.
[00:50:04.820 --> 00:50:08.580] The first one is the WIAA situation.
[00:50:08.580 --> 00:50:14.900] I am not a major at voice performing in girls' sports,
[00:50:14.900 --> 00:50:16.980] but I also want to be good for girls
[00:50:16.980 --> 00:50:18.380] performing in boys' sports.
[00:50:18.380 --> 00:50:21.500] I think it gives people an opportunity
[00:50:21.500 --> 00:50:24.980] to go to high school in that sense.
[00:50:24.980 --> 00:50:27.220] If you can imagine a child growing up,
[00:50:27.220 --> 00:50:28.580] they want to be a baseball player,
[00:50:28.580 --> 00:50:30.740] they want to be a volleyball player,
[00:50:30.740 --> 00:50:32.700] and they're trying to make you a true doctor
[00:50:32.700 --> 00:50:34.380] and get in a scholarship.
[00:50:34.380 --> 00:50:37.540] There are personal records, there's school records,
[00:50:37.540 --> 00:50:39.340] there are state records for these.
[00:50:39.340 --> 00:50:41.840] We can't think of the X-Line.
[00:50:41.840 --> 00:50:43.260] And then something happens.
[00:50:43.260 --> 00:50:45.940] The rules change, you know, all the time,
[00:50:45.940 --> 00:50:47.900] and you'll have to do that animal.
[00:50:47.900 --> 00:50:50.980] Something with a superior physical ability
[00:50:50.980 --> 00:50:54.220] has been able to move up in your spot.
[00:50:54.220 --> 00:50:58.100] It's a life changing thing for them as well,
[00:50:58.100 --> 00:51:00.940] and I don't like to see anybody get hurt.
[00:51:00.940 --> 00:51:03.420] I think everybody should read it the same,
[00:51:03.420 --> 00:51:08.420] but also you have a property issue to ask for new issues.
[00:51:08.420 --> 00:51:11.660] They're unfair to both gender issues
[00:51:11.660 --> 00:51:13.420] regardless of which way it goes.
[00:51:13.420 --> 00:51:16.260] I would ask the school board to consider
[00:51:16.260 --> 00:51:20.980] taking the required steps for them, the WIAA,
[00:51:20.980 --> 00:51:22.860] so that they will remember that their policy
[00:51:22.860 --> 00:51:26.040] is to change the gender force.
[00:51:26.040 --> 00:51:29.460] The second thing is best.
[00:51:29.460 --> 00:51:32.400] And I just wanted to share it with the people who will be.
[00:51:32.400 --> 00:51:37.400] Council has her meeting with presentation from NASA,
[00:51:37.400 --> 00:51:40.820] which is a little bit like this.
[00:51:40.820 --> 00:51:42.580] On the 9-0, if you don't mind,
[00:51:42.580 --> 00:51:45.260] you can look at it, you can leave your comments.
[00:51:45.260 --> 00:51:47.940] The city council had asked my questions
[00:51:47.940 --> 00:51:50.060] and I'm not answering your phone,
[00:51:50.060 --> 00:51:54.320] and it was very humiliating as the NIAA can,
[00:51:54.320 --> 00:51:56.980] you know, professionals hold great leaders.
[00:51:56.980 --> 00:52:00.500] I want to share with you, first piece of scenario,
[00:52:00.500 --> 00:52:02.820] there would be a thermal runway,
[00:52:02.820 --> 00:52:06.700] and these, you know, the batteries explode,
[00:52:06.700 --> 00:52:08.580] and people sitting each other on fire
[00:52:08.580 --> 00:52:10.460] and going through a change in action,
[00:52:10.460 --> 00:52:12.500] there's a possibility of evacuations.
[00:52:12.500 --> 00:52:14.940] The ocean is going to be a little bit after
[00:52:14.940 --> 00:52:16.300] I'm taken to life.
[00:52:16.300 --> 00:52:20.980] There was a 12, I believe it was,
[00:52:20.980 --> 00:52:23.580] evacuation for two weeks period.
[00:52:25.580 --> 00:52:29.100] It took almost 24 hours, and 45 of them,
[00:52:29.100 --> 00:52:34.100] and 220 million gallons of water before this happened.
[00:52:34.100 --> 00:52:38.540] The first time I went through about 22 hours,
[00:52:38.540 --> 00:52:41.100] they removed the evacuation order,
[00:52:41.100 --> 00:52:43.500] it ignited itself twice.
[00:52:43.500 --> 00:52:46.420] They reinstated the evacuation order.
[00:52:46.420 --> 00:52:47.980] If you look up what you made stuff,
[00:52:47.980 --> 00:52:48.980] and they did it with this,
[00:52:48.980 --> 00:52:51.340] and all of them did it first time around.
[00:52:51.340 --> 00:52:54.780] These batteries are dangerous for a variety of reasons.
[00:52:54.780 --> 00:52:57.660] The water is something that won't come off.
[00:52:57.660 --> 00:52:59.260] That's not a good point.
[00:52:59.260 --> 00:53:01.420] That piece of property you're dealing with
[00:53:01.420 --> 00:53:02.740] is a bad thing.
[00:53:02.740 --> 00:53:04.420] You can't do that, because you know,
[00:53:04.420 --> 00:53:05.780] there's a high through high school,
[00:53:05.780 --> 00:53:08.780] and there's not many as out of the middle of the world.
[00:53:08.780 --> 00:53:12.620] Many are in a bad school, but you're okay, all the way.
[00:53:12.620 --> 00:53:14.460] Next up, we have Tim Hallows.
[00:53:14.460 --> 00:53:21.700] And that will conclude all of our public comments
[00:53:21.700 --> 00:53:22.540] and suggestions.
[00:53:22.540 --> 00:53:25.460] Thank you very much.
[00:53:25.460 --> 00:53:26.980] Now, I want to go with business.
[00:53:26.980 --> 00:53:29.900] Dr. Mitchell-Sinders is presenting for the second meeting.
[00:53:29.900 --> 00:53:33.340] Policy number 52.54, staff expression.
[00:53:33.340 --> 00:53:35.340] This is a new policy draft by Roswell
[00:53:35.340 --> 00:53:36.460] that will make it just to maintain
[00:53:36.460 --> 00:53:39.340] an order-resorted and effective work environment
[00:53:39.340 --> 00:53:42.540] while balancing of a way to express demand and price.
[00:53:42.540 --> 00:53:43.820] Just reading was an expression
[00:53:43.820 --> 00:53:45.780] in the first week of our employees.
[00:53:45.780 --> 00:53:48.380] This policy was about to go out in August 26,
[00:53:48.380 --> 00:53:49.740] but first reading,
[00:53:49.740 --> 00:53:51.740] and then the board is made out to take actions today.
[00:53:51.740 --> 00:53:54.940] Dr. Winston, are you ready to move again?
[00:53:54.940 --> 00:53:56.060] Not at this point.
[00:53:56.060 --> 00:53:59.380] So at this time, we have a motion
[00:53:59.380 --> 00:54:03.980] in the second order of policy number 52.54, staff expression.
[00:54:03.980 --> 00:54:06.660] - I've got a good job.
[00:54:06.660 --> 00:54:09.500] Policy number 234, staff expression.
[00:54:09.500 --> 00:54:19.500] - So I could have questions and comments
[00:54:19.500 --> 00:54:20.900] at any session.
[00:54:20.900 --> 00:54:25.900] - Yes, so after learning about USA being a student active,
[00:54:25.900 --> 00:54:32.180] being a team two, political,
[00:54:32.180 --> 00:54:38.860] my proposal, before I feel ready to approve this policy,
[00:54:38.860 --> 00:54:44.900] I would like to understand where we draw the line
[00:54:44.900 --> 00:54:48.020] on what is acceptable expression
[00:54:48.020 --> 00:54:49.340] versus not much.
[00:54:49.340 --> 00:54:54.260] Our policy needs a lot of great data,
[00:54:54.260 --> 00:54:57.100] some of it does on a higher level,
[00:54:57.100 --> 00:54:59.980] so I may be speaking more towards
[00:54:59.980 --> 00:55:04.980] what could be expanded upon
[00:55:04.980 --> 00:55:09.660] with either a procedure or maybe just a conversation
[00:55:09.660 --> 00:55:12.540] about where it could slide through your arm.
[00:55:12.540 --> 00:55:13.900] Because in my life,
[00:55:13.900 --> 00:55:17.260] when we're talking about celebrating national pride,
[00:55:17.260 --> 00:55:20.500] that's not a political issue that's something
[00:55:20.500 --> 00:55:24.220] that both political parties are behind,
[00:55:24.220 --> 00:55:27.780] and political means that the term political means
[00:55:27.780 --> 00:55:30.540] that there's been one part of this,
[00:55:30.540 --> 00:55:33.420] one solution that becomes not.
[00:55:33.420 --> 00:55:37.460] So I've heard concerns from parents
[00:55:37.460 --> 00:55:40.380] within the district about certain things,
[00:55:40.380 --> 00:55:44.020] being displayed in classrooms or a horn,
[00:55:44.020 --> 00:55:46.460] whether they're considered okay,
[00:55:46.460 --> 00:55:51.460] but then this sense of national pride is okay.
[00:55:51.460 --> 00:55:56.940] To be honest, this was the first time I've heard of it.
[00:55:56.940 --> 00:56:00.780] I spoke to our athletic director this morning
[00:56:00.780 --> 00:56:04.820] about it's kind of topic, and this did not come up,
[00:56:04.820 --> 00:56:07.340] so I will need to look into it,
[00:56:07.340 --> 00:56:11.020] because I truly have no information
[00:56:11.020 --> 00:56:15.020] about the U.S.A. and the U.N. being changed
[00:56:15.020 --> 00:56:19.020] to the thing that's being zero on all of it.
[00:56:19.020 --> 00:56:25.020] But I will look into it.
[00:56:25.020 --> 00:56:27.020] Any other discussion?
[00:56:27.020 --> 00:56:33.020] So, ladies, we're in the motion on the table,
[00:56:33.020 --> 00:56:36.020] so I don't know if we have the example we want to take,
[00:56:36.020 --> 00:56:39.020] but last speaker, we'll hold on to our motion,
[00:56:39.020 --> 00:56:42.020] unless there's another motion to present.
[00:56:42.020 --> 00:56:52.020] We have a motion to table policy number 82.
[00:56:52.020 --> 00:56:55.020] Any more static discussion?
[00:56:55.020 --> 00:56:57.020] I move to the table,
[00:56:57.020 --> 00:57:00.020] policy 32 for discussion.
[00:57:00.020 --> 00:57:02.020] Sorry.
[00:57:02.020 --> 00:57:07.020] Any of those motion passes?
[00:57:07.020 --> 00:57:09.020] Any other questions?
[00:57:09.020 --> 00:57:11.020] Any agenda issues?
[00:57:11.020 --> 00:57:13.020] No, no.
[00:57:13.020 --> 00:57:16.020] I did have the additional speaker move
