A. CALL TO ORDER
1. Interpretation Services
President Rice called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with an announcement of live-stream options for this meeting – links can be found on our website. A reminder to all speakers tonight - please slow down so our interpreter can translate accurately.
2. Pledge of Allegiance – Student from Davis HS
Art teacher Ms. Carole Huls introduced art student Morgan Greene. Morgan led the Board in the Pledge of Allegiance and read the Character Word of the Month. 3. Yakama Land Acknowledgement – President Rice
President Rice read the Yakama Land Acknowledgement.
4. Recognition of Visitors and Guests
President Rice welcomed our in-person guests.

Director Walker announced the 2022 OSPI Superintendent's HS Art Show award:
After winning the ESD 105 Regional High School Art Show, A.C. Davis High
School Junior, Isabelle Ehlis moved to compete in the 2022 Annual OSPI
Superintendent’s High School Art Show. Isabelle’s art went on to win a place
after competing against all of the ESD winners in Washington State.

VP Villanueva announced the 2022 Congressional Art Competition awards:
Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the
Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art
Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the
nation, as well as in the fourth District of Washington.
The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in the
fourth District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed
for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington D.C. will include the
winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country.

6. Gifts to the District/Board
Superintendent Greene acknowledged the recent donations to YSD:
$119,601 was donated in the form of reimbursement of expenditures of supplies, equipment and expert services to distribute COVID 19 vaccination and testing materials, and implementation of outreach campaigns and host vaccine awareness events (Health Commons Project).
$10,000 was donated by the National Association of School Nurses to support programs to increase pediatric COVID access, confidence and uptake in communities to increase healthy equity.
$2,700 was donated in the form of a WMEA Music Matters Grant to buy music instruments for the music classroom for K-5 students at Robertson Elementary.
$2,502 was donated by Dutch Brothers in the form of a fundraiser for 3 schools, Barge-Lincoln was identified as being one of them.
$2,000 was donated by Mike Pepper Sims Manufacturing for summer field trip to TCSBA - TriCities Steelband Assoc. (Baliki Steel Drum Band program).
$2,000 was donated by Dustin & Yoremy Kissel for summer field trip to TCSBA - TriCities Steelband Assoc. (Baliki Steel Drum Band program).
$1,500 was donated by Yakama Nation for a leveled library at Gilbert Elementary.
Donations from Legends Casino Hotel:
$8,642.34 to purchase a Spot Vision Screener to allow more access to vision screening.
$3,500 to purchase books for the district
$1,500 for the PBIS Program at Davis High School
$1,500 for the PBIS Program at Washington Middle School
B. REPORTS
1. Members of the Board
No reports at this time.
2. Superintendent Update - Superintendent Greene and others
Shelby Lockhart, Executive Director of Student Achievement, presented the Monthly Absentee Report. She reported June looked a lot better than past months with regards to attendance. Director Navarro, Jr. asked what attributed to the attendance differences between each school. Ms. Lockhart said the difference on seeing variation for attendance rates per school is based on universal supports per building and quarantines at some elementaries were more challenging than the school down the street. He followed up if this is an equity issue and can we better assist. Director Walker asked if we visit these regularly absent students at their homes and determine how we can better support them – Ms. Lockhart assured the board that YSD has worked with the City and the County on supporting these students and confirmed the home visits. VP Villanueva asked if she had a magic wand – what would she do with it. She said the data-share and leadership magic wands are already starting as the City and County has started sharing information which has already started benefiting our students. These wands will be worked on more next year.
Supt Greene presented the Summer PD-Palooza Learning Menu. This calendar is attached to this meeting in BoardDocs.
Dr. Rodriquez gave an update on Summer School. She shared that summer school started today in for high school and ends July 15.. There are two sessions for high school with the primary focus on our seniors to help as many seniors get caught up with graduation credits. Our middle school students are housed at DHS due to construction at the middle school buildings. And we have 6 elementary sites open that cover all elementary students in the district. Our goal is to assist students and families who are most in need of acceleration and support. The curriculum is stem integrated units of study with a heavy emphasis on literacy. Summer school for MS and Elementaries is June 23 – July 15.
Our next board meeting is July 26, so Superintendent Greene gave these important Budget dates:
The Preliminary Budget will be made available to the Board on July 6, 2022

The Preliminary Budget will be presented to the Board on July 26, 2022
The public hearing on the Preliminary Budget will be August 1, 2022
The Final Budget will be presented and adopted by the Board on August 17, 2022 (per WAC 392-123-054)
3. Monthly Financial Update – Becky Nissen
Becky Nissen presented the Monthly Financial Update for May 2022. She shared the good news of the on the funds received in Federal Local Effort Assistance Stabilization funding per Substitute House Bill 1590 from the 2022 Legislation. She gave the current update on the ESSER II expenditures and included new slides on ESSER III. She also shared our enrollment numbers are declining.

That the Board of Directors approves the minutes for the Monday Board meeting on May 9th, the Business Board meeting on May 17th, and Special Board meetings on May 23rd (Honor’s Convocation), 24th (CTE) and 31st (Union Gap).

That the Board of Directors approves new hires, leaves of absence, resignations, retirements, and terminations/non-renewals for certificated and non-certificated personnel as herewith submitted.

That the Board of Directors approves out-of-endorsements assignments for the 2021-22 school year.
6. Budget Status Reports for May 2022
That the Board of Directors Approves the Budget Status Reports for May 2022.
D. ACTION ITEMS
1. Approval to purchase an accredited Digital Basic Education and Diploma program - Dr. Rodriquez
That the Board of Directors grants approval to award the RFP # 01-2223 to Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) in the amount of $405,000.
Motion by Norm Walker, second by Graciela Villanueva. Motion carried 5/0 on a roll call.

2. Approval to Purchase Mathematics curriculum from Great Minds PBC for the 2022-23 SY in the Amount of $215,991.06 - Dr. Rodriquez

That the Board of Directors approves the request to award the construction contract for the renovation/upgrade of Discovery Lab/Early Learning Center, to M Sevigny Construction in the amount of $363,130.00

4. Approval to enter into an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the City of Seattle - Sara Cordova
Sara Cordova presented this approval. Director Navarro, Jr. asked about the equipment that will be purchased. Supt Greene thanked the board for supporting the safety and security for our students and staff.
That the Board of Directors grants permission to the Purchasing Department to enter into an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the City of Seattle.
